Entry Level AssessmentsAssessments are necessary throughout the duration of the class period to ensure students are comprehending a topic.
Before diving into a lecture or a topic, i will be surveying the class to ensure students have prior background knowledge of the Civil Rights Movement. I will survey students by asking simple questions relating to the movement. This provides the teacher an opportunity to gauge student's prior knowledge and make adjustments whether to spend more or less time on a certain section of the lecture. |
Formal and Informal
|
After the entry level assessment, students will be assessed informally and formally. During the lecture, students will have the opportunity to display their understanding and knowledge by answering questions throughout the lecture. The teacher will pause throughout the lecture and check for understanding by having students answer questions on the PowerPoint. The teacher will monitor student understanding by how students answer the questions. Depending if students are proficient on a topic, the teacher can spend less time on the lecture, or more time if students are struggling.
Student understanding will be assessed formally as well. At the end of the lecture, as a class, we will utilize the web tool, Quizlet, to look at questions, and the teacher will assess students' understanding based on how many questions they get correct.
